The gloomy days of the Oromo churches are passing The last five years or so have been difficult, full of bumps and very though time for the ministry of most of Oromo churches around the world. Most of our churches have suffered a lot from internal conflicts and separations. Many hearts were broken as a result and many Oromos withdrew their membership from churches in several places and decided not to be part of our churches and others joined non-Oromo churches.

The Mission Developers training conference took place from August August 17 - 21, 2007 at the ELCA church wide office in Chicago, Illinois. Pastors and Mission developers from several Lutheran churches in the USA and Canada and ten Oromo mission developers and pastors took part in this important conference. The training focused the process of starting a new church and how to revive a vibrant worshiping community from declining traditional church. Read more •
The 12th Annual Union of Oromo Evangelical Churches Spiritual Conference was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from July 19-22, 2007 at Minneapolis Oromo Church, a newly renovated, building which was donated to our church from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Minneapolis area Synod about two years ago. The 3rd Annual West Cost Oromo Evangelical Churches Spiritual Conference was held in Portland, Oregon from May 31 - June 3, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran church building. The theme of the conference was taken from Neh. 2:20 “The God of heaven will give us success.” It was very impressive and moving experience for all those who were in attendance. Read more •
On Easter Sunday, a holiday of beginnings, the Oromo Evangelical Lutheran Church held its first full service in its own space. "We feel fortunate to have found the church," said elder Ammanuel Gobena of Fremont, who helped find the San Lorenzo location. "The church has a lot of history. It really got my heart." Read more •
